Taiwan Center
Taivani, or the Taiwan Center, is a restaurant and recreation complex in Rinia Park, south of Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, Albania. It's one of the city's most modern and popular spots, with a well-equipped bowling alley. Known as Taivani or “Taiwan” because it resembles a small island in the park, it has an interesting history. Rinia Park, built in 1950, covers 29 hectares and was initially a family space.
The name 'Taiwan' came after the complex was built, coinciding with Albania's brief recognition of Taiwan's sovereignty during the communist regime. After the regime's collapse, illegal buildings appeared, but many were demolished in 2000, and the park was restored. The western edge features a terraced building with cafes, restaurants, and a basement bowling and billiards center. The complex, called 'Taiwan' or 'Youth Park,' is now a popular meeting place with a number of nice cafes and restaurants.
