Old Blloku

Old Blloku

Ish-Blloku (meaning 'Ex-Block'), often called Blloku ('Block'), is a stylish district in Tirana, Albania. It is largely recognized as a lively spot for entertainment, featuring boutiques, shops, restaurants, trendy bars, pubs, and cafes. The neighborhood is part of Tirana e Re in the southwestern part of the city. During summer peaks, its popular bars often relocate along the Albanian Riviera. The area gained popularity after the fall of Communism, as it was formerly a restricted residential zone for members of the Albanian politburo, where ordinary citizens were not permitted. On most maps, it remained unmarked. Today, one can still see the residence of Albania’s former communist leader, Enver Hoxha, in Blloku.

Since the end of communism, Blloku has experienced rapid development, with many new upscale apartments and flats. It has been dubbed the “playground of the young Albanian elite”. Blloku is a compact, walkable neighborhood that is easily accessible from various parts of Tirana, with the entrance just a 10–15 minute walk from the city center.
